January 27 - Junior Leadership Council, 7:00 p.m., Extension Office

January 29 - 2nd Annual 4-H Animal Science Leaders Form, Patuxent Refuge, Laurel, MD

Deadline Extended

With the Kent County 4-H policy for inclement weather in effect the record book, revised senior portfolios and Achievement ballots submission deadline has been extended to tomorrow, January 19, 2011 by 4:30 p.m.

There's still time to come in to get news clippings, pictures, fair premium statements, and other things you may need for your record book.

January 20 - 4-H on the Radio, 12:15 p.m., WCTR 1530 AM, at the studio
January 22 - Science Day has been postponed to March 26th 9:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. at the Extension Office

Looking Ahead

With the winter storm watch for Tuesday (1/11/11) please be reminded of the Kent County 4-H policy for inclement weather...when schools are closed all 4-H activities and programs are canceled.

January 17 - the Extension Office will be closed in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday

Shotgun Safety Training Classes

Kent County Clay Crushers 4-H Shotgun Club

Are holding a 4-H shotgun safety training class for those youths that wish to become members in the Clay Crushers. This class will contain safety lectures and hands on (live fire) training. This class will be conducted by 4-H Certified Shotgun Instructors.

The class will be held on February 12th beginning at 10:00 am until about 2:00 pm at the Kent County Gun Club. Parents are encouraged to attend the lecture portion (first part) as we will discuss safety and the Clay Crushers program.

Those who plan on attending should call one of the following Club Leaders: Russ Parson 443-480-0292 or Robert Baldwin 410-739-2497 or contact the 4-H office 410-778-1661.

Those planning to attend should bring their own shotgun and 2 boxes of shells. Club guns will be available for those who don’t own one and shells will available for purchase. All safety gear will be available for loan for those who need them. A brief lunch will be provided by the Clay Crushers during the break.

University of Maryland Extension Programs are open to all citizens without regard to race, color, gender, disability, religion, age, sexual orientation, marital or parental status or national origin.

Happy New Year everyone!

Hopefully you've all had a great start to 2011.

In the week to come:
January 8 or 15 - Beef and Dairy Steer Tagging Day, Kent Ag Center or Delmarva Feed (TBD)
January 17 - the Extension Office will be closed in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday

As we move forward in the New year we know there are a few things on the horizon in 4-H.
